I am very excited for the opportunity to share words of Torah with you. Each week, in this spot, I look to share an idea I've found that speaks to me and that I think will resonate with you as well. This week, I share an excerpt from an article by Shoshanna Dresner entitled ‘Bless You!’ in which she enhances the meaning of our greetings to one another and our ability to share blessing with those around us. We often leave blessing people to those of a particular stature. Perhaps a great rabbi, a Cohen (priest) or a bride or groom on their wedding day. Although these people do have special strengths when it comes to giving a blessing, it is interesting to note that every one of us has actually been empowered with this tool.
God tells Avraham "You shall be a blessing (you will have the power to bless those you wish – Rashi) ….and I will bless those who bless you." This idea does not stop with Avraham, but carries down to his descendants! [...]
When greeting someone with a ‘good morning’, a ‘good night’, or a ‘bless you’ after a sneeze, don’t merely mumble the words. Take the opportunity to infuse the phrase with meaning, by sincerely keeping in mind that you are wishing them a good morning, a good night, or good health! Give them a blessing! When someone is setting out to travel, starting a new job, or even taking an exam, send them on their way with a well-meaning blessing.
When we make an effort to wish well those around us, and to rejoice in each other’s good fortunes, we often find that the care will be reciprocated, and hence creates an atmosphere of love and positivity. [...]

Kitchen Renovation Update
During the COVID Pandemic Estelle Lerner and I went into the kitchen and did a massive purge. We formed and met with the Catering/Kitchen Committee to discuss redesigning the kitchen. We were very blessed to have a generous, anonymous donor who helped us to implement all of these improvements
*kitchen power cleaned *replaced the ovens with confection Shabbos ovens *purchased new counters *painted the entire kitchen - fixing the walls along the way, *replaced the mismatched storage cabinets *hired electricians and plumbers to improve the workings of the kitchen *re-configured the dairy section *added a new shelving unit in the walk-in *purchased a larger industrial food processor and mixer with the hopes of having *monthly cooking events, encouraging friendships and supplementing kiddushes. *Upcoming plans: replace the floor, add in new baseboards and install a shelf above the meat sink.

To commemorate this renovation an artwork was created specifically for it by me. Many people were involved in this huge process enhancing SOI’s Kitchen and the future for our kiddushes, seudah shlishit, events, and rentals. Thank you to everyone who helped us along the way,

The “Eye Thank You” award goes to Avi Sadiky. On mischief night he saw several young boys heading toward the shul with some spray cans. Avi kept watch and called the CHPD. The police responded and after questioning the boys it was found they only had silly string. The boys were told to go home. Here’s a great example of being situationally aware and acting in a manner that helps to keep us safe. Way to go Avi!
Fire Lane Parking
Please don’t park in the fire lane at the front of the building, even if you are there for “just a minute”. Parking is available in the upper lot and along the fence line.
